An hour later, the quiet penthouse was completely empty of guests and police officers.
The evening sun was setting over the Dallas skyline, painting the room soft orange.
David sat beside Claire on the long sofa and held both of her hands tenderly.
"I am so sorry I didn't protect you better today," David said softly with guilt.
"You couldn't have known your own brother would do something like that," Claire replied.
Sarah walked over and sat on the coffee table right in front of the married couple.
"The police said Richard is going to face serious charges for what he did," Sarah noted.
"He will never come near our family or our business ever again," David promised firmly.
David turned to Sarah and took her hand with deep gratitude in his dark eyes.
"If you hadn't run up those stairs and stopped her, everything would be lost," David said.
"I screamed at you because I thought you were attacking her, but you saved us," he added.
Sarah smiled warmly and squeezed David's hand tight to reassure him completely.
"Family looks out for each other, no matter how chaotic things get," Sarah said softly.
Claire placed Sarah's hand onto her baby bump, feeling a soft kick from within.
They all laughed gently through their lingering tears as the emotional tension finally melted away.
David pledged to change how their vast company money was managed from that day forward.
