A Cold Family Secret

The Dallas Heiress Saved From Falling Off Her Own Balcony

Richard walked up the marble steps with quick and heavy foot strides.

Victoria stayed near the bottom of the stairs, wringing her hands nervously.

Mark stepped slightly to the side, keeping a watchful eye on Richard.

Richard: We need to talk about the trust fund right now, Sarah.

Sarah: The lawyer already explained everything to you yesterday, Uncle Richard.

Richard: Your father was not in his right mind when he signed that paper.

Sarah: He was completely clear, and you know that very well.

Richard: I built that company while he was sick in bed!

Sarah: You drained the business bank accounts for your own personal debt!

Richard stopped at the top of the grand balcony and stepped closer.

His face turned bright red as he pointed a finger at Sarah.

Maria dropped her polishing cloth near the entrance table below them.

She looked up at the balcony with wide and worried eyes.

Mark took two steps closer to Sarah to make sure she was safe.

Mark: Mr. Miller, I suggest you calm down right now.

Richard: Mind your own business, Mark, you are just a hired guard!

Mark: My job is to keep everyone in this mansion safe.

Sarah: Please leave the house before I call the estate lawyer, Richard.

Richard laughed in a harsh and bitter way that echoed loudly.

He turned toward Victoria, who was watching from the main floor.

Victoria: Richard, please do not make a scene in front of Maria.

Richard: Shut up Victoria, she is trying to throw us out!

Sarah stepped back against the decorative marble railing behind her frame.

The balcony railing was polished and came up to her lower waist.

She looked down at the hard marble floor far below her feet.

The fall from this height would cause terrible and life-threatening injuries.

Richard took another fast step forward and reached for Sarah's leather folder.

Sarah: Do not touch my private papers!

Richard: Give me those papers right now, Sarah!

Sarah pulled the folder away and leaned back against the cold stone.

Richard grabbed her wrist tightly and tried to yank the folder away.

Sarah gasped in deep fear and tried to pull her hand back.

Sarah: Let go of me right now!

Mark: Get your hands off her!

Mark reached out to grab Richard's shoulder and pull him away.

Richard swung his heavy elbow back and struck Mark in the chest.

Mark lost his balance on the smooth marble floor for a second.

Sarah struggled to break free from Richard's strong grip on her wrist.

Her high-heeled shoe slipped on the polished surface near the edge.

She lost her balance completely as her upper body tilted backward over.

A sharp terror filled her chest as her feet left the floor.
