Jason turned around instantly and tried to run toward the driveway gate.
Two off-duty police officer friends attending the wedding stopped Jason immediately.
They held Jason firmly by his arms until the official police cruisers arrived.
Sirens echoed down the suburban Dallas street, growing louder every second.
Sarah collapsed onto the green grass, crying uncontrollably in her bridal gown.
Sarah: Mark, please forgive me, I loved you so much!
Mark: Love does not steal, Sarah.
Mark: Love does not separate a brother from his own sister.
Mark turned away from her and looked down at his mother's pearl necklace.
He walked over to his car, parked near the front driveway curb.
He placed the valuable pearls inside a safe box in his trunk.
Two hours later, the wedding guests had all cleared out of the house.
The backyard was empty and quiet under the warm afternoon sun.
Mark sat at the kitchen table with Ellen and a warm cup of coffee.
Ellen: Here is Clara's real phone number in San Diego, Mark.
Mark dialed the number with a hand that was finally steady and calm.
The phone rang three times before a familiar voice answered on the line.
Clara: Hello?
Mark: Clara, it is your brother, Mark.
There was a long, heavy silence on the phone before Clara began to cry softly.
Clara: Mark, I thought you never wanted to talk to me again.
Mark: I was lied to, Clara, but I am coming to get you right now.
Clara: I miss home so much, Mark.
Mark: Our mother's house is waiting for you, Clara.
Mark hung up the phone and smiled genuinely for the first time all day.
He had lost a dishonest bride, but he had saved his mother's legacy.
Most importantly, he had found his lost sister again.
